Latest Visa Guidelines

Following the notification dated 21.10.2020 released by the Ministry of Home affairs vide O.M. No.25022/24/2020-F.V/F.I, the restrictions on entry of foreigners in India have been relaxed now in different manners for different categories of foreign nationals/visa holders. Following categories of foreign nationals can enter India by water routes or by flights including those under the Vande Bharat Mission or ‘Air Bubble’ (Bilateral Air Travel Arrangements) Scheme or by any non-scheduled commercial flights as allowed by the Ministry of Civil Aviation:-
  1. Indian Nationals: Indian Nationals stranded anywhere in the world can come to India without any restriction.
  2. Foreign nationals of Indian Origin who hold OCI or PIO card: All Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholders and Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders holding passports of any country are allowed to visit India.
Other Foreign Nationals intending to visit India on different visa:
  1. Tourist visa: Foreigners are not allowed to travel India on Tourist Visa.
  2. Business visa: Foreigners are allowed to visit Indian on Business Visa.
  3. Employment visa:  Foreigners are allowed to visit Indian on Employment Visa.
  4. Medical Visa: Medical Visa can be granted by Indian Missions/Posts to the patients and their medical attendants only for emergency cases.
  5. Other Categories of Visa holders: In addition to the above other visa holders such as project visa, student and research visa, intern visa etc. are allowed to visit India.
  6. Restoration of suspended Visa: All existing visas, except electronic visas (e-Visa), Tourist visa and Medical Visa, which was suspended earlier, have been restored from 21.10.2020.
